Hello Family!

What a week! Whew!!! It was another great week to be a missionary though!!! Where to begin.

My Thanksgiving was great! A lot better then the MTC actually, lol. We woke up in the morning, had personal study and some companionship study and then...Our Zone leader picked us up and...WE PLAYED SOCCER AND FOOTBALL!!! It was so much fun. What a stress reliever too! It was great! I am so grateful for the Elders in our mission. We went up to Flushing Meadows Park, my first area, and played soccer as a zone. There was about 18 of us playing. Do you remember the big beam things at the end of the Men in Black Movie? That is Flushing Meadows Park and there is a HUGE HUGE HUGE globe there as well. It was really neat to be there and just play. Then after a GREAT game of soccer, best game I've ever played, we played foot ball against another Zone. Of course we won :) It was so much fun. President Nelson had approved all of the games ahead of time and no one was hurt. Honestly, I had such a fun time. I'll be honest :) I took some Elders out in soccer. They all told me to just kick the other team in the shins. lol.

After time at the park we got a ride back to our apt to get ready for the day. Oh! On the way to the park we got there a lot earlier than everyone else because we were in a car. Our Zone leader pulled over, threw us his wallet and told us to go into Dunkin Donuts and buy some white hot co co! It was so good! Now that we are the only Sisters in the Zone the Elders treat us a little differently. They either forget that we are there and they are more relaxed or they treat us really good. I'm enjoying it as much as I can. Well, we got home, got ready and ran to Hermana Ca*'s home. She is great. She is from El Salvador but has lived here for the last...20+ years or so. She made an amazing Thanksgiving dinner. She is a single mom with two daughter. She had also invited one of her non-member friends over which was great. We prayed, said our thanks, and then ate! Soooo good! Then at the end we made a...paper chain with the things we are all thankful for. Don't worry, I wrote down my family and friends on that list. Then we came back home and prepared for...DINNER #2!!! Woot!!! The catch to all of this was not to let either of the families know we were going to another home :) I hope it worked ;) We made some really good mashed potatoes and rolls to bring over to the Pa* home.

Once we got there we instantly felt the love. Hermana Pa* had been cooking since 8 in the morning and it was 5:30 by the time we got there. The table was nicely set and...awesome. She had every detail made to the T. The food was amazing the company was great. After wards all of us watched The Testaments together. Then we came home and called it a day! What a great day hu?

We saw Hna Pa* again last night. She is great and so is Ar*. On the way out she said, "Have a great night and get home safe." I turned around on the way out and said loudly, "YOU TOO!!!" Ha! I thought it was pretty funny, I pulled out Brian Regan! She laughed really hard and we went home.

So, BLACK FRIDAY!!! As Sister missionaries we had the idea to do a Street Sweep on Black Friday. We thought, if we were normal humans we would probably be out shopping right? Wont everyone else be doing the same? Our Zone was going to do a street sweep anyway so we just suggested that it happen on Black Friday. Good idea :) We went into Jamaica and crushed it. We had a table set up with materials from the church that people could sign up to get for free. Then there was a group of us fearlessing and a group singing Christmas Carols. It was so much fun. We ended up being out there for about 2 hours tops and it was really successful. We have a really talented Elder that can sing so we sounded pretty good. It was so much fun and I felt like I was still able to belt out the songs the day after Thanksgiving, it was just different this year because it was on a busy New York Street with ALL different types of people. Needless to say I don't think I will every forget that Black Friday :)

This last week I've been so blessed to get to know President and Sister Nelson better. They are amazing people. Last Monday we ended up being in the office again and needed to go to the Target there before we went home. Sister Nelson decided she needed to go as well and ended up taking us home as well. What a blessing. They are incredible people. I have felt there love and support so much.

It is amazing to know that Heavenly Father knows exactly what we need and when we need it. He knows what we can handle and when we think we are going to die. I have really felt His great love for me individually this week. There have been small and simple things that have happened in my week that have helped me to keep going, do what I need to, and share that love with those around me. I know that Heavenly Father truly does love each one of us more than we understand. I know as well that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is real and that because of our Savior Jesus Christ all things are able to be made right, be healed, and forgiven. One thing I have really thought a lot about this week is the blessings that we have and receive because of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Because He was born we have the Atonement, a Savior. This is going to be the topic of my study for December.

I wanted to let you know how two of our investigators are going. The Mi* family is doing OK. They are really struggling to keep their commitments but I still have hope in them. They need to be baptized in December. Hopefully that happens. We were able to visit Ro* yesterday. She is doing GREAT! She is still reading in the Book of Mormon and coming to church. She is all the way in 2 Nefi chap 6! She is incredible. We are just praying that her husband will want to get married and then she'll be ready to get baptized, which she still wants to do.

Well family, I really hope you've enjoyed this e-mail. Nothing too exciting but things are going well. Thank you so much for all of your prayers. I can feel them and really need them. I am very grateful for all those who are supporting me right now, for those who send letters, and so forth. I can't even describe what a difference it makes to missionaries who have support from home.

I love all of you so very much,

Much Love,

Hermana Banaszewski

Hey family!

How is everyone doing?! This week was really good. Its been on of learning, patience, and feeling the Atonement. Thinking about this week I don't even know what to say. Last Monday we had Sisters conference. It was so great to see all of the Sisters in the mission. It is incredible how much our lives have become intertwined. I was able to get updated on how Flushing is along with Brooklyn. I found out that Is* when to the temple for the first time a couple weeks ago an did baptism! How neat is that! I was speechless. I couldn't believe it! Going from not knowing her, knocking on her door...twice, visiting her in the hospital, teaching her there, tracking her down, seeing her be baptized and then...going to the temple! Wow! She is amazing! I love that woman so much. I worry however that I wont be able to keep track of her. She moves around a lot or at least has plans to do so and she doesn't have a cell phone. Hopefully after my mission I will be able to contact her again.

I also found out that Cl*, remember her, is suppose to have her twins any min if she didn't already! Great news hu? She gave her first talk in Sacrament meeting and they are on there way to being sealed in the temple soon. I hope they do it soon, before I go home so I can go with them :) Oh the joys of missionary work! All of the hard times are worth it knowing there are joys to be had. I also found out that a 9 year old girl in Flushing was baptized. Hna Gonzalez and I had begun teaching her. When we were there we both thought...this is going to be a long process and someday she will be baptized. When another missionary showed me the picture I flipped out! I was so excited. It helped me to be more excited about this work, about life, about everything! I know Heavenly Father truly has a plan and His plan is far better than any plan we could ever up with ourselves.

Wow! Well, time went really fast today on the computer. I spend more time e-mail to individuals. Over all things here are going really well. Ro* is still progressing and she is doing great. Her husband came to our ward Thanksgiving activity on Sat. I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving, my first on in NY. I'm sure going to miss everyone from home but don't worry, soon enough I'll be talking to you on the phone and sooner than I'd like I'll be home. NO!!! I have been having nightmares about coming home. lol...only a missionary would. They've been pretty funny. We will be spending parts of thanksgiving with The Pa*'s, Ar* and His mother along with the Ca* family. It should be good.

This week I have had a lot of going time to think. More and more I am grateful for the blessings I see and have in my life. They are many. I know that Heavenly father Lives and Loves each one of us. I am so grateful for...my life, my family, the Gospel of Jesus Christ...all of it. My heart is full of Gratitude. Oh how I love each one you so much. Have a great week and know that God loves you!

With Much Love,

Hermana Banaszewski

Hello family!

Week 1 of transfer...8. Wow! What a great week to be a missionary! This week we saw a lot of ups and downs. Before I begin I hope everyone will look on Hna Winfields blog and get her updates as well. She does a great job at explaining events and things that I usually do not. We had a lot of laughs and tears shed this week as well. I hardly even know where to begin. Well, last Tuesday the other sisters that use to live with us moved out. Now it is just Hna Winfield and I in our pad, apartment. It is really nice however we had to spend 6 to 7 hours one night just getting our place to square one. We have 4 huge bags of clothes to donate and through out tons of junk and things that other sister have left behind. Needless to say, our apt feels so much nicer.

Lately we have really been working on getting more people to attend the English classes that we teach in the church. We have had a lot of success finding people to teach about the gospel that way. We have been putting up fliers everywhere! Last week we had 11 people in class. It was great. Our first English class last transfer we only had 1. There are some really neat people we are going to try and start teaching, a family. We starting teaching a man named Al*. He has a lot of great questions about the the church of Christ. We were able to teach him after English class on Friday and it went really well. He's come to church once and we are excited to begin teaching him more. He needs a lot of prayers to help him to progress more.

Ro*, also from English class is doing really well. I know all of you from home have been praying for her. Thank you so much. We have seen miracles with her this last week. We were able to teach her on Wed, Sat, Sunday, and we are going to teach her again tonight. She is still progressing and really fast. She came to church on Sunday and loved it. We also showed her the baptismal fount and talked more about wearing white when you are baptized. She loved it. She is so excited to get baptized and has a lot of great questions about it. We went over on Sat with a member, Ke*. It was a struggle but ended up being really good. It was hard because not all of us, the missionaries and the member, were on the same page about what we should teach Ro*. It ended up being good, I am so grateful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost, that is for sure. Ro* talked about feeling a change in her life. She no longer has the desire to go out and buy things that she really doesn't need. Before she was seeking to fill a void. She knows this is what she was lacking in her life. She is only 23 but acts so much older. She has a 16 mo old boy, Di*. Yesterday night we talked about the plan of salvation. She read the pamphlet we had left with her and she soaked it up. She ended up teaching up about the plan and we testified of the truthfulness of it. Once we got to earth life we taught about the Law of Chastity and the Word of wisdom. Hna Winfield went over briefly the Law of Chastity. We then asked her if she was legally married to her husband. She answered, "No, I am not." Whew! What a heart sinking moment of my mission but I thought, don't worry it is all OK, it will work out. I kept thinking, what is going to happen with Ro*, everything is going so well teaching her, her coming to church and her desire to learn and soak the gospel up. What a blessing the guidance of the Holy Ghost is. Before we had planned to teach Ro* about the law of chastity I was being prepared for that very moment. Do you remember Ce* from Brooklyn? She was in a similar situation however she stopped progressing soon after we told her about the law of chastity. I knew that whatever happened in that moment with Ro* that we needed to stay positive and not be so disappointed that Rosa felt it and stopped progressing. We continued to teach a little more after I said, "its OK, we will have to move your baptismal date but it will all work out." We couldn't sit there and brush over that she wasn't married. After talking a little more we stopped, we asked her how she felt. She was really sad that she couldn't be baptized this coming Sunday but she has hope. She is incredible. She has hope that her husband will see the change that is taking place in her and either change or be receptive to our message. As of right now her husband doesn't want to get married. We talking about miracles and how they are real. It ended up being a really good lesson and completely lead by the spirit. Ro* is still in need of many prayers. She will be baptized someday, I just don't know when that day will be.

The law of Chastity-What a blessing the law of chastity is in our lives and at the same time what a curse it can be for missionaries. Right now we have two people who are MORE than ready to be baptized and want to be really badly but the law of chastity is stopping their progression. It is hard because they are families. People that have been acting as husband and wife for 15+ years or have a little boy together but either can not be married because their spouse is married legally so someone else, they don't want to get married, or they can not get married due to legal papers. As much as I know God lives I know that satin is real. This work is so important. If anything I know that the work we are doing is right just by the fight we have daily for the souls of men. We are continually in a war, a battle for souls. Every morning I wake up and it is even a battle for my own soul, how I will feel, fighting to have the spirit with me daily. Even though it is a battle, a spiritual war, we know who the winning team is, we know that God will prevail and that the servants of the Lord will be blessed. We have our weapons, our shields, and armour, it is the work of God, the scriptures, it is prayer, the Holy Ghost, and acts of service. We will win the fight, a battle and struggle it will be but we will win.

Speaking about a battle, on Saturday I woke up exhausted! Friday night I didn't feel very well. I fought to get out of bed, work out, shower and then begin my personal study. I did it! It only happened with a lot of prayer. While we were having companionship study I just started crying because I was so tired, then laughing at the stress and situation we were in. Everyone wanted to meet with us at the same time. What a moment. Everything ended up working out exactly how it needed to. We saw the Mi* family early in the morning before they left for NJ, then met with Ke* and took her to teach with us to Ro*, then we stopped home for lunch. We were suppose to meet with a new member at 4 but it was going to be difficult. We were excited about meeting with her. at 2:45, 15 min before we needed to leave to meet with her she called and said she was called into work. Sigh, OK, now what? Not even two min later an investigator called us who we have been trying to meet with and said, "Hermanas I have time at 4 could you come over then?" YES we can! :) The Lord blesses us in so many ways. I know we were suppose to meet with her, Hna Pa* I felt so much love for her. She is in a really tough situation right now and...it is incredible how much love I feel for these people. I am nearly a messenger of Gods love for His children. I love these people so much. It hurts just thinking about never seeing some of them again.

Last night we were able to meet with Hna Pa* and her son Ar*. They are doing so well. Hna Pa* is a tough cookie but has so much love. She has so much depth inside of her self. Ar* received his temple recommend and his recommend to get his Patriarichal Blessing! He is progressing so much and fast.

Things are going great here. This week was hard but there was so much good that came from it. I could go on for a long time but time is up. I love working here. Hna Winfield and I are doing great. We have really gotten a lot closer and have had so many great times together. We have learned so much, pushed our selves, cried together and...what a journey. I can not even think about this time ending. Good thing we have 5 more weeks together at least.

I love all of you so much. I know this is the work of the Lord and not my own. I have seen miracle upon miracle here and in my own life. That has been the greatest miracle of all, the change and love that is occurring with in me. Thank you so much for all of your love and support.

Much Love,

Hermana Banaszewski

Some doors we knocked at a apt complex. Do you like how the doors are so close together?

We were looking up a referal and...we walked out of "safty zone" we ended up walking into a park but it was late at night and raining. If I wasn't a missionary I would not have done that. I prayed the whole time and felt we were ok.

We were walking out of our apartment and saw some big trailers and this sign. They were filming right behind our apartment. As we were walking around we saw some people that looked REALLY familiar...aka...we had seen them on TV before our missions. It was a fun little exciting moment to start off our week.

Hna Winfield as we worked on planning and mapping out our area more.

Hello Family!

How is everyone doing? How is the weather in Chicago? It is getting pretty cold here. Today it is really cold and raining. It just helps me to really love those bright sunny days even more. Yesterday was a beautiful day and we saw so many beautiful fall leaves.

This week was really good. We have a baptismal commit! Yeah! Her name is Ro*. I'm not sure if I have told you about her or not yet. She is a student from our English class. She has come pretty faithfully for a while. Hna Winfield and I both felt like we needed to teach her. About 3 weeks ago we got her information and set up a time to meet with her. We had the wrong address and then she didn't come to English class the next day. We found out that she still wanted to meet with us but her son was sick. Needless to say last Sunday she came to church and loved it. We taught her again on Saturday with a member, Ke*, who lives just down the street from her. Ke* served her mission 13 yrs ago in her country, the DR. She is an amazing member and teacher, plus she speaks perfect Spanish. When we got to Ke*'s home on Saturday to pick her up for the appointment her and her husband had cooked us a huge breakfast! It was amazing! As we ate we planned out our lesson and then headed over there. My Spanish is still horrible but I can say what I need to when I need to. I was so grateful Hna Winfield has great Spanish and Ke* was there. I could feel the spirit really strongly and knew the lesson was going really well. Her date to be baptized is November 21st. We have a lot of work to do and a lot to teach her. She is going to need a lot of prayers as well to help her keep progressing. Last night we called to see how she was doing. She is reading in the Book of Mormon and progressing! Please keep her in your prayers.

This week has been full of ups and downs and yet again I just can't write fast enough do describe the experiences how I would like. Oh, by the way I got a hair cut. It is just simple. It was funny because we went to visit Hna Bu* at her work and say hello. We sat down and when she was done cutting a girls hair she said, "OK, who's next?" I couldn't describe how I wanted my hair in Spanish and honestly I didn't know. It looks good. It was a funny moment.

Funny moment from the week. We received a phone call about our free English class we teach. Hna Winfield had a hard time understanding them and handed me the phone. I spoke with them for a little bit but then couldn't say what I needed to, we ended up both talking on the phone and translating for each other and the lady thought it was the same person. What companionship unity hu?

We found out that Hna Winfield and I will be together for another transfer! Yeah! I am really glad. We had just gotten things going the way they should be and it would have been really hard to stop the momentum we have. Our next transfer ends Dec 19th. We did find out that the other sisters that live with us are both getting transferred out and they are closing the area. We will be the only sisters in this Zone and in our apartment. Oh~ before I forget next week we are having a sisters conference on Monday. We don't know if we will be e-mailing on Monday or Tuesday. If we e-mail on Monday it might be really early or really late in the day, not like normal. Just a heads up so you know :)

This week we have had many amazing experiences with the Atonement. It is so hard to describe them. We met with Hna De*, Ar*, and the Ca* Family. Hna Winfield is writing down her thoughts about the experiences and I am going to try and do my best as well. ( Julie, Please continue to change the names on the people before it goes up on the blog or is forwarded out, thank you!) Ar* has gone through so much in his life. He is 28 and on fire. The Atonement is so incredible and infinite that regardless of what we have done or ever will do in our lives the Atonement truly does cover it. We were talking with him on Thursday. He came to the church to clean it and do service. He is doing his best to change his life around and he is doing exactly that. When he came into the church we knew something was wrong. He began cleaning and we began studying Spanish with the Elders. After studying Spanish I turned the Hna Winfield and said, "we need to go talk with him" We found him in the church and sat down with him. The conversation was lead completely by the spirit which makes it harder to describe. I testified that I know that regardless of how low you are, how far down the path you have gone that you can still become so much. As if on a graft and some one is at -10, most people start at 0, and we all want to get to 100. It is still possible to get to 100 even though we may have started at -10. It just means that our slope needs to be grater. I hope that makes sense. Regardless the spirit was so strong. All of us where there crying. After our discussion was over I asked how he was feeling. He said he feels like each tear was 100 pounds and he felt a lot better. The I said, "That was the Atonement, you just experienced the Atonement." It was such a powerful experience. I know he learned a lot about the Atonement as I did as well.

We had a similar experience with Hna De*. She is moving this week with her 3 children. She is such an incredible woman. She has been so concerned for her children and that they will not feel the effects of others in there lives and they will grow up and be righteous. I testified how it doesn't matter where we come from, what happens to us, who effects us because the Atonement is real. Not only will the Atonement of Jesus Christ heal our souls but it will make it as if there was no scar. I guess you just had to be there.

I am so grateful to be a missionary right now. We experienced many miracles. The week still had its hard moments but it was worth it. I felt so much love for the people here. This transfer I have a goal to sanctify myself even more, to be come more consecrated than I had once been. I know that this transfer Hna Winfield and I both have an opportunity to do that, to work hard, do the will of the Lord, focus, and experience miracles. Joshua 3:5. I stand here as a servant of the Lord. My weaknesses are great but my faith in the Lord is real. I know He will bless us as we seek to become more sanctified in this work.

I love all of you so much. I hope you have a great week.

Much Love,

Hermana Banaszewski

Hello to all those I love!

How is everyone? This was one of the best weeks of my entire mission! So many things happened this week and I have felt the love of Heavenly Father so much! Wow, where do I even begin? I feel like this week was relieving, joyful, full of love, and full of miracles! I sure have felt the tender mercies of the Lord. I am overwhelmed with the Love Heavenly Father has for each one of us. I have felt His love for me and for those I am serving and serving with. One of the most incredible things on my mission has been to feel so much love for those we are teaching, visiting, or even just contacting on the street. He has more love for us than I think we can comprehend.

I am just so full of joy, happiness, love, AHH!!! Anyone who knows me well I feel as though I just can't contain myself because I'm so happy! Really, the word joy doesn't even cut the explanation of how I feel. It is one of the most incredible feelings I have ever had. I love these people, all people, so much. Wow, I wish I could describe how I feel better. This is really one of the happiest moments of my life. I LOVE being a missionary and seeking to become a true disciple of Christ. My heart just feels like it is going to burst open! Wow! What a blessing from God.

One of the highlights from this week is that Is*, sometimes I wrote Is*, same person...well, SHE WAS BAPTIZED!!! What a miracle...WHAT A MIRACLE! Hermana Winfield and I received permission to go down to Brooklyn for the baptism this Sunday! We were able to go to Sacrament meeting in our ward and then we had to leave right after to make it for the baptism in Brooklyn. It took about 1 1/2 hours or so to get there by train. It felt really good though because I felt I knew where we were going and when I didn't know exactly were to go we could figure it out. I love New York so much! Out of all days to leave our ward early this didn't seem like one of them. We had five investigators at church yesterday, that made me SOOO excited. Two of them had never been to our church before either. I was worried about leaving early but Is* had asked me to give the talk on the Holy Ghost at her baptism and we HAD to be there. I couldn't miss seeing this woman be baptized. Right after Sacrament we talked to some members and they were really excited to walk our new investigators through church! Hermana Winfield and I were so grateful for them. Even if we were there that is the best thing for the investigators, to have the members help them out and be with them the whole time. We can feel and see the ward is improving here. There is still a LOT of work to do but just being here for 5 weeks I have really seen a difference.

Speaking about the ward, this week we went through the 12 pg ward list with two amazing members, the Bishops wife, Hna Ga*, and Hna De*. We had planned to meet both of them at Hna De* home, eat breakfast and work on the ward list. We are both new in the area and don't know everyone or what their stories are yet. On our records it shows that about 70% of our ward is in active. This is the biggest ward I have been in yet but that is what the records show. When we got to Hna De*'s home she had invited her neighbor to come an eat with us. She is in her 30's and fit right it. What a great example of member work! Once her friend left we spent a good amount of time figuring out who people where, if they moved, or what happened to them. This was such an example to me that Heavenly Father really does love His children. Even if thy may feel forgotten, lost, or alone, some one is always thinking about them and on there way to invite them back to the fold.

Ok, back to the baptism. It was incredible. After she was baptized she stood in the fount for a while and sobbed. Her life has changed in so many ways. I gave the talk in the Gift of the Holy Ghost. All week I could not put my finger on what I needed to talk about. I didn't want it to be the typical, This is the Holy Ghost, talk. During the service it came to me what I needed to talk on. I shared an experience that Hna Reed and I had had with the Holy Ghost, how he can guide us in our lives, protect us, and help us learn and receive answers. The experience was finding and teaching Is*. Then I talked about how I was so proud of her and wished I could give her a gift but I was a poor missionary and couldn't give her something sufficient enough but how Heavenly Father will, the GIFT of the Holy Ghost. I felt the spirit so strongly there and while talking. I was blessed to be able to speak with the spirit...in SPANISH! What a blessing!

This week we were able to meet with Ro*. She is a new investigator from English class. We have been having a lot of success from finding people to teach from teaching English class. She is ready! She always come to English class, the other day she came to our building for an exercise class a ward member teaches and THEN she came to our ward party and THEN...she came to CHURCH!!! She really wants to learn. She doesn't have much religious background but she listens and accepts everything.

One thing I've really learned this week is that I have been really hard on myself. I felt as though this week I enjoyed my mission even more, if that is possible. I always want to grow and improve and I felt that I was stopping myself by being too hard. This week Hna Winfield and I have really come together. I love that girl so much! When we first got together it was a little hard because we are so much like each other. Last night we had an amazing time talking and...I just love her so much. We had to be inside at 5pm. We did our weekly planning and really enjoyed each others company. I really hope and pray that we are together next transfer as well. She has so many gifts and talents and...I just love my companion.

Last Thursday we had a fun and BUSY day. We had apt to apt. We visited all members or less-active members. I could really feel how much Heavenly Father loves them. The only problem with all of our apt's was that we were feed an entire meal EACH TIME! Prayers were answered and we were able to get through the day with out dying from being over fed. :) We are doing our best to work hard and love our missions. I know this week has sure been a blessing from Heavenly Father. Oh-really quick, Ar*, and Hna Pa* are SO neat! They wanted to make sure we had Thanksgiving at there home so they invited us early. I've seen SO much progress in his life. What amazing people. When someone has a true desire to change, they change.

I love all of you so much! Keep up the great work and know that I will be praying for all of you.

Love,

Hermana Banaszewski

PS- Make sure you read Hna Winfields blog. She has some funny things added in her e-mail that I didn't share.
